This Poetry Foundation highlights the importance of sharing poetry. Poetry can be taught, learned, and written, but it will have no impact if it is not shared. The Poetry Foundation is intended to create warm, intimate spaces that lead poets to share their work with ease. The left board consists of site analysis, program, precedent studies, and design responses to the studies. The right board illustrates the final building’s statement, parti, perspectives, elevations, and section perspective.
These intimate, warm spaces are the 6 towers which spread throughout the building. They are distinguished with wood, while also providing that intimate space through materiality. Each space provides different functions, but collectively highlight the center space. Three of these towers (one core and two listening rooms) overlap the center tower, allowing views into the performance space.
